We've chosen the winners! We'll announce them just as soon as we get their signed release forms back :) Those will be sent out ASAP!

My mailbox is as empty as a dairy licked clean by a full raid of ratongas, so it looks like I didn't make it to the top 10. There's still a small hope that maybe they haven't sent out any mails yet, but I have my doubts. With 35 entries I'd have to beat 25 of them so chances are pretty slim.

The top 10 have been announced. 5 of them are DAZ renders, I'm disappointed but not at all surprised that they chose these over some of the better hand drawn entries. For those of you who don't know, DAZ is a free program which lets you pose models (which someone else made) wearing clothes (which someone else made) interacting with items (which someone else made) and placed against 3d backgrounds (which someone else made) and mess with lighting settings, and then grab a picture. Or, if you feel that placing a few light sources and moving things around a little are too challenging, you can download someone else's poses and lighting settings.

If I sound just a little bit bitter, that's because these sort of pictures are often posted in the EQ2 fanart forum without any information that the people posting them did infact not make all the stuff you see in the picture, which is bad enough, but entering an art contest with things you did not make yourself is a shitty thing to do. The good people at SOE are to blame though, for allowing these entries in the first place, and then picking them over some rather excellent hand drawn entries.

The one with all the colors STILL gets me. Maybe they thought a ten year-old made it.
